meet the third triple.
the saga of my triumphs is entertaining.
my first (2011) was bought from work as a street bike. I rode it for 2 or 3 months, then it decided to grenade its motor with only 14K km on it.
the second one I got (my yellow 2006) was bought as a crashed bike to turn into a track machine. I replaced the brake pads, put track body work on it, replaced the battery and fired it right up. 2 days before I was supposed to take it to the track for the first time, the blue one went bang. so, I took ALL of the body work and street stuff (lights, plate etc) and put them on the track bike. There were a few small differences in the wi
ring as the 2 bikes where different generations (06-09 is first gen, 10-12 is second gen, 13+ is third gen) so i decided that this bike was not long for my garage.
enter, #3. this is a 2010 that was set up for track and has a BUNCH of goodies on it. Case sliders, frame sliders, a quickshifter (OMG) and a daytona 675 R OEM rear olhins shock in the back (photo shows an elka, it will be swapped)
THIS bike will now become my street machine, the 06 will either be converted back to track and sold, or I buy another set of street panels and sell it as a street bike. the funds from THAT sale will go to rebuilding the motor in the 2011, likely with some slighter higher compression pistons and a proper tune for MOAR POWAH.
so yea. thats my update. How have you guys been?

My Daytona might* have it’s motor put back together this week . Apparently the head cracked over the winter, pretty badly too, according to the shop. They are using a head that the owner of the shop raced with.
Two long months without riding is long enough.
*Crossing my fingers.

I run water wetter. That’s my guess. It’s never been a problem before but this winter got colder for longer. I think it is going to stay in the garage this year, or maybe run antifreeze after my track day.

My trophy’s turn signals came in. Turns out the aftermarket ones had a short or something since the battery will now hold a charge for more than a day after i ns talling some stock units. Still can’t figure out how to remove the shift level and rear brake level since whoever changed them made them block the bolt that attaches the assemblies. Might take it to the place down the street to get it sorted out.
KLR is still KLR. I take that back, I accidentally knocked it over at work moving it into a parking spot. I put a small pothole in the asphalt. The bar end got a scratch.

I just ordered a replacement motor for my racebike. Im hoping to get it back out there by the end of August. Do you know what blew in your bike? These motors WILL drop valves if you run them over 14k for any meaningful amount of time.

hmm. anything I can do to help mitigate that?

The stock motors arent making much power above 14k so just shift it at 13.5k. Itll drop you right into the meat of the powerband. The only way to combat this is run stronger "race" valve springs.

sweet, likely what I’ll do.
I have my shift now dumbass light at 13. but I will do a top speed run here and there. So I should lok into the race springs for both bikes if I’m honest...

Genuine Triumph Race springs are very hard to come by any more. UKRS makes some reproduction ones.
